Game premise and mechanics

Barely Outnumbered is an incremental tower defense game for PC. Players start with a single tower and face waves of monsters. As you defeat enemies, you earn Scrap, which can be used to build new towers, upgrade existing ones, carry out repairs, and conduct Engineering research. The game operates in real time, allowing players to pause the action at any moment to plan their defenses without the pressure of oncoming enemies.

Tower types and upgrades

The game includes six different tower families, each with its own upgrades. These tower types range from Cannons that can damage multiple enemies at once to Rail Lances that punch through enemy lines and Tesla Coils that create lightning chains to hit several foes. You can choose specific upgrades and research paths for each tower, allowing for various strategies to tackle monster waves.
