Game premise and genre

Breathtoll is a turn-based card combat game set in a prison tower known as the Breathtoll. Players take on the role of Sir Vael, who is cursed by the Ash King to lose his breath and become a monster if he runs out. The game's core mechanic involves managing a health bar that serves as a high score, where each breath spent contributes to your score, and managing it is essential for survival.

Combat and classes

Combat occurs on eighteen floors, each presenting turn-based encounters with telegraphed enemy intents and branching paths. Players can choose from six distinct classes, such as the aggressive Arsonist and the handicapped Penitent, each offering different strategies for managing the breath resource. You earn your deck through hard choices and can acquire weapons from defeated enemies, who were once prisoners like you.
