AI and the justice system

アルテミスの誤算 is a PC mystery set in a near-future society where AI handles criminal investigations, arrests, prosecutions, and trials. Police androids monitor the city, which is divided into three zones: the tightly controlled First Central Governance Zone, the more lightly managed Second Standard Control Zone, and the Third Security Adjustment Zone, where AI oversight has barely reached.

The murder at Suirantei

In the first episode, “The Murder at Suirantei,” protagonist Kawase goes to a traditional inn in the third zone after receiving a request. Before he can begin investigating, a guest is found dead, with the victim’s head repeatedly struck by an axe. The inn’s guests all have reasons to avoid calling the police, so Kawase can’t turn to the authorities.
