Backbeat

Watts' Musical Journey in Backbeat

In Backbeat, players follow the musical journey of Stephanie "Watts" Watson, an aspiring bassist searching for her true sound. Set in 1990s suburban America, the game intertwines a character-driven narrative with time-based sokoban-style puzzles. As Watts discovers the groove of funk, she assembles a band of hometown misfits to take on more polished rivals at the Battle of the Bands.

Groove with Funk and Fusion

At the heart of Backbeat lies its vibrant, funk-driven soundtrack crafted by Pete Fraser, known for his work with bands like The Pogues and Friendly Fires. The game boasts an array of twenty distinct musical motifs performed by a live ensemble, dynamically generating songs based on player choices. Each decision influences the soundscape, creating a personalized experience as Watts navigates through various puzzle and combat scenarios.
