Army of the Potomac

Civil War strategy

Army of the Potomac is a turn-based PC wargame based on the GMT board game by Mark Herman. You command Union or Confederate forces in Civil War battles, maneuvering infantry and cavalry divisions across hex maps to find enemy flanks, concentrate troops for attacks, and commit artillery.

Turns and combat

Turns use an “I go, you go” system. You and your opponent alternate actions until one side passes; passing gives the other player a random number of unopposed actions, so timing your pass matters. Units can move in any order and multiple times. A Zone of Influence and Zone of Control system shifts formations between March and Battle as units approach the enemy.
