A Legacy of German Engineering

The DB BR 101 was born out of necessity in the early 1990s, following the need for a new, reliable express passenger locomotive. With older models struggling to meet the demands of heavier loads, Deutsche Bahn AG sought a solution from multiple manufacturers. ABB Henschel eventually secured the contract, delivering 145 locomotives by 1999 that took to Germany's railways, primarily functioning around key routes like the Nuremberg-Munich High-Speed Line.
