Blacksmithing in Emberford

The Smith's Tale is a PC blacksmithing game set in the village of Emberford. You run a smithy, make tools and weapons to order, and build relationships with villagers who have their own trades, friends and old grudges. Your work leaves the forge: villagers keep and use the items you make.

Forging and finishing

There are no templates or progress bars. You shape steel by striking it, drawing out blades, beveling edges, punching holes for hafts, curling hooks and folding pattern-welded steel. The hammer’s impact determines the shape. You manage the forge with coals and bellows, read the steel’s color, and strike while it’s hot; blows delivered to cold metal can crack it.
