Game premise and objective

The Groundskeeper is a first-person simulation-horror game where you take on the role of a caretaker at a haunted Victorian estate that serves as a tourist attraction. You spend your nights cleaning the estate using pressure washers and various tools while avoiding hostile entities. During the day, you manage ticket prices to attract visitors and fund equipment upgrades. Your goal is to restore the mansion to meet tourist satisfaction before the next day's visitors arrive.

Cleaning mechanics

You focus on surface restoration by utilizing high-pressure sprayers, mops, and vacuum cleaners to remove grime and dirt from the estate. The game features tactile surface-restoration mechanics with dynamic filth shaders, and each wing of the estate presents different cleaning challenges. Unclean rooms can directly affect tourist satisfaction, requiring you to balance thorough cleaning with limited time before dawn.
