Game premise and mechanics

Taskbar Colony is an idle space colony simulation game for PC that operates in a transparent space above the Windows taskbar. Players oversee tiny colonists who scavenge resources, build structures, and transport cargo while allowing other desktop activities to continue uninterrupted. The gameplay is designed to respect your daily routines, as players periodically monitor the colony, catch supply drops, and make construction decisions.

Colony construction and economy

The game includes nine building types, such as Solar Arrays and a Terraformer, that players can construct as they gather resources. Supply pods drop in regularly, while cargo ships are used to transport goods. As the colony grows, it transitions from a simple settlement into a city, with players earning offline income for up to eight hours when they are not actively playing.
