Cooking without a countdown

Simmer Down is a kitchen game set in restaurants and catering jobs, where you prepare orders without an on-screen timer or combo meter. You take an order, wash and chop ingredients, cook them, plate the food, and carry it to the guests yourself. Guests wait, though not forever, and food burns if you leave it unattended. Each evening ends when the last table leaves; your work is judged on how well you cook and serve.

Dishes and restaurant work

The game has more than twenty dishes, from radishes with butter and chocolate fondant to tomato tart baked in its tin and skewers cooked over a wood fire. Preparing a dish means carrying out its steps, such as washing, chopping, filling, baking, and plating, rather than choosing a recipe from a menu.
