SHOGITOON

Shogi and territory

SHOGITOON is a competitive shogi game for PC, combining Japanese chess with a contest to paint the board. You move pieces, capture your opponent’s pieces, protect your king, and paint the squares your pieces threaten in your color.

Checkmating the opponent’s king wins the match. There’s another route: when all 81 squares are painted, the player covering more of the board wins. A match can shift from a fight for checkmate to a race for territory, and checkmate can still turn around a shortfall in painted squares.
