Game premise and genre

Shadows of Fortificar is a hybrid narrative RPG and visual novel inspired by Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition. Players take on the role of one of five characters, each with their own distinct mechanics and perspectives on the unfolding story. Set in the city of Fortificar, which is plagued by an incurable sickness, the gameplay revolves around making decisions that impact the fate of characters and civilians. Players confront the harsh reality that not everyone can be saved, as the plague spreads rapidly and decisions must be made under time constraints.

Narrative gameplay

The narrative aspect of the game allows players to navigate the story in a visual novel format, featuring numerous unique illustrations and scenes that are manually crafted. Players will make decisions and conduct skill checks based on Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition rules, influencing the progression of the narrative. Each character offers a personal backstory, with at least one hour of gameplay dedicated to each character's route.
