Shadow Wake

Game premise and mechanics

Shadow Wake is a retro-arcade game set in space where you take on the role of the last pilot defending planets from waves of enemies. The game combines fast-paced combat with modern gameplay mechanics. You engage in battles to destroy enemy forces that are fueled by dark matter. As you defeat these enemies, you collect Etherium-128, a crucial resource for upgrading your ship.

Energy management

A central mechanic in the game involves managing your ship's energy. You have to distribute limited energy between your shields, weapons, and engines. Each system operates more effectively at full power, but you're often faced with the dilemma of prioritizing one at the expense of others. For instance, directing power to shields makes your ship more resilient, while boosting weapons maximizes your offensive capabilities. Alternatively, enhancing your engine can increase your speed, allowing you to either escape threats or chase down enemies.
