Seven Gates of Ur

Dynasty and rule

Seven Gates of Ur is a PC grand strategy game set in a Sumerian underworld ruled by seven lugals, many of them gods and demons. You found an eighth city beneath a god of your choosing and try to build a dynasty strong enough to take the others. Create your lugal by choosing a name, face, virtues, flaw, skills and personality. The ruler ages, marries, has children and dies; heirs succeed according to the inheritance law you set. If your dynasty ends, so does the campaign.

Your cities are governed by ensis, who may turn against you, while a council collects taxes, monitors the court and pursues claims. Choose among five forms of rule: your own, the temple’s, the elders’ assembly, the great houses or a god-king. Court factions, schemes, gods and innovations all factor into keeping the dynasty in power.
