A farm in Upper Carinthia

Selbstversorger is a cooperative farming and village-life game for PC, set on an old farm in the Austrian Alps. Two to four people arrive from the city and spend five years learning to run it, with help from Hias, an older neighbor. The roof, barn and soil are in good shape, but the new owners have to learn the work and earn a place in the village.

Planning the farm year

Each week, you assign people to jobs in the fields, forest or parlor. You can also let Hias plan the week and step in when something goes wrong. The weather matters: the game uses real daily weather data from Carinthia, and rain on cut grass ruins the hay. You can buy hay when the co-op store is stocked, but each month brings a new notice at the store, and the bank account won't stay comfortable forever.
