Combat in Raise the Banners shifts between party-based turn-based mechanics and tactical grid battles, adding layers of strategy to each encounter. Deploy your hero, companions, and army stacks in challenging scenarios, whether it's laying siege to enemy castles or intercepting hostile forces. Utilize formations, elemental synergies, and various status effects to gain the upper hand, and strike decisively against rival powers.

Moral Choices Shape Rulers and Their Path

Your character’s nature affects gameplay significantly, as players are faced with pivotal decisions that test their moral fiber. Choose between chivalry and pragmatism, mercy and ruthlessness. These choices not only affect your reputation but also impact your resources, like managing marching rations—a crucial factor when facing the harsh realities of war. Define your character as a Tyrant, Justiciar, Diplomat, Martyr, Spymaster, or Anarchist, each path with its own distinct bonuses.

The game boasts nine playable classes, from Warriors to Mages, each branching into three unique passive paths. Character development is crucial; your hero and companions create their own skill trees as they engage in battles and complete quests.
