Outfitter: Madison River

Fly-fishing on the Madison

Outfitter: Madison River is a PC river-running and fishing game set along 228 km of the real Madison River, from Madison Junction in Yellowstone to the Missouri Headwaters at Three Forks, Montana. You paddle a canoe through 51 reaches, fish for wild trout and other species, and can leave the river to hunt the ridges above it. You can play alone or in two-player co-op.

Fly fishing depends on reading the water and timing your strike. Cast into riffles, runs, pools and tailouts, then watch for a trout to inspect and take the fly. Set the hook as it takes, and manage the fight as the fish runs, jumps, shakes its head or charges toward you. Once it’s spent, net it, kneel with it in the shallows and release it.
