Million Tiles

Restoring the palace

Million Tiles is a first-person restoration game for PC set in a voxel palace. After a quake knocks 6,098 glazed tiles from floors and walls, you pick them up and place each one on the chalked spot with the matching pattern. The palace has five rooms to restore: the Great Hall, Courtyard, Bath House, Library and Mihrab Chamber. Each door opens after you restore enough of the room before it.

The tiles have 21 Iznik-style patterns, including cobalt waves, tulips and gilded stars. Surfaces range from floors and low walls to high friezes and a towering mihrab niche. The palace is built at 16 voxels to the metre, so restoring it means matching individual tiles across both low and high surfaces.
