Juchetopia

Debt and survival

Juchetopia is a PC real-time strategy game with pause, set in Korea in 1953 after the armistice. The Soviet Union demands $50 million each month, and your main objective is to pay the debt in full. Miss an installment and sanctions begin, factions grow restless, and public support can collapse. Paying the final installment is one of nine endings; others include reunification, a coup and capitulation.

Industry and trade

You rebuild the North’s economy by placing mines and steel mills in its provinces, setting grain rations for different classes, paying wages and assigning workers to the plan. Coal, gold and magnesite go to three world markets, with the proceeds sent to Moscow. When exports don’t bring in enough, villages go hungry.
