Asymmetrical strategy

Hnefatafl is a PC strategy game based on an ancient Viking board game. You play tactical matches against a computer opponent, with one side trying to get its King to a corner square and the other trying to trap and capture him.

Movement and captures

The King’s side has defenders, while the invading attackers outnumber them two to one. Pieces move in straight lines along rows or columns, like rooks in chess. To capture an enemy piece, surround it on two opposite sides, either with your pieces or with a piece and a hostile corner or throne square.
