Gweilo 1886

A family mystery in Hong Kong

Gweilo 1886 is a PC mystery game set in colonial Hong Kong. You follow Fini, an ex-priest and opium addict of British and Chinese parentage, as he returns to the birthplace he disavowed. His father, a war hero in the Crown’s eyes, has died, leaving a final request and a jade ring. Fini follows clues to learn what his father wanted and uncover the family history he kept hidden.

Following the trail

You question people who knew Fini’s father, inspect objects and connect clues. The search takes you from Victoria Harbor through streets, homes, opium dens, missions and back rooms. What you find sits within a city shaped by empire, trade, faith, drugs and vice, and the mystery depends on people and places from his father’s world.
