Fliegeralarm

Pacific air combat

Fliegeralarm is a PC arcade air-combat game set in the Pacific War of 1943. You fly US Navy aircraft from a carrier through a 21-mission story campaign, with missions spanning Wake Island, Midway, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. An intro film, cutscenes, radio chatter and a promotion ceremony connect the sorties.

Missions and aircraft

You dogfight Japanese Zeros and bomber formations, attack ships and ground targets, and take on named enemy aces. Other assignments include torpedo runs close to the water, pilot rescues and water landings in the PBY Catalina, photo reconnaissance and escort duty. Some missions end with a carrier landing: you have to bring the aircraft home through gusts with only your remaining fuel.
