Dear Reader

Psychological horror visual novel

Dear Reader is a PC psychological horror visual novel about Lumen, a writer whose words begin to feel unfamiliar. As his mental state unravels, he discovers that his editor has been twisting his work into an uncanny counterfeit under the guise of optimization. You read the account through fragments of letters, piecing together a crisis from someone else’s point of view.

Reading the letters

The story is told as an epistolary narrative: letters are the pages through which you follow Lumen’s situation. Reading is part of the fiction, and the text itself becomes a source of unease. The game frames the act of reading as complicity, with each page potentially changing how you understand what came before.
