Dark Forest

Hidden-information duel

Dark Forest is a turn-based, two-player strategy game about searching a secret 20x20 grid while hiding your own. You spend a starting budget to place celestial bodies, then take turns probing your opponent’s grid. It has a Battleship-like structure, but players can lie about probe results.

Building your grid

Bodies vary in shape, cost and population. The roster ranges from space junk and satellites to planets, nebulae, stars, a ringworld, an alien artifact and a Dyson Sphere. Many grant powers as soon as you place them; others give powers when colonised. Your choices determine both how your hidden grid is laid out and which abilities you can use.
