A rise in Northumbria

Danelaw is a historical action game set in Northumbria in 866 AD, during the time of the Great Heathen Army. You begin as the lowest-ranking member of a Danish war-band, arriving at the Tyne, and build your standing through raids, battles, oaths, marriages and feuds. The story campaign spans four acts; after that, you can continue in open play and rule your holds.

Directional combat

Combat uses stamina and directional attacks. You can cut high or low, parry and riposte, break an opponent’s guard or step aside. Battles put you in shield walls with hundreds of fighters, and you can charge on horseback or shoot arrows from the saddle. Weapons have different effects: spears can sweep an enemy’s legs from under a shield, while Dane axes batter guards and knock men back.
