Barrel Chess

Game premise and mechanics

Barrel Chess is a chess variant on PC that combines four standard chessboards into a single continuous barrel-shaped board. Players use the same chess pieces and rules as traditional chess, but the open design means pieces can slide across the surfaces without being stopped by edges. This allows for unique strategies, as a piece that seems cornered can unexpectedly move to an adjacent board, altering conventional tactics and possibilities.

AI opponent

The game features BarrelBot, powered by the Stockfish chess engine, providing a sophisticated challenge with four different difficulty tiers. This AI plays on the multi-board setup, ensuring that players are constantly confronted with new challenges as they adapt to the unique structure of the game. An easy mode is available for those looking to ease into the gameplay.
