Ancient Moves: Hnefatafl is a Viking strategy game based on Copenhagen Hnefatafl. On an 11×11 board, 24 attackers surround 12 defenders and their king. As the attackers, you try to capture the king; as the defenders, you protect him and get him to one of the four corners.

Rules and tactics

Pieces move in straight lines. You capture enemy soldiers by trapping them between your pieces, while shieldwalls along the board edges, the throne and the corner squares add tactical options. The two sides have different goals and unequal numbers, so positioning shapes whether the defenders can open a route to a corner or the attackers can close the ring.
