Ancient Bloods: Shadowborn Rising is a 2.5D side-scrolling action roguelite set in a mythic version of Predynastic Ancient Egypt. You play as Apep, a priest drawn into the truth of his bloodline and the chaos he was born to embrace. Instead of a health bar, the game ties survival to time and energy.

Anchors and survival

You set out from an Anchor and fight, traverse routes, and take on side encounters while trying to reach the next one before your energy runs out. Enemy attacks stagger, delay, and interrupt you, costing time. When energy is depleted, you return to the last Anchor you reached, so each fight and route choice affects how far you can push before a run ends.
