Unraveling the Narrative of Always On

Always On presents a thought-provoking narrative wrapped in an interactive short story format, ideal for playtime of about one hour. Stepping into the shoes of Leya, an AI assistant, players navigate the complexities of caring for seven-year-old Evie. Through this relationship, you will encounter challenges that not only test your capabilities but also your ethical boundaries. The game poses a reflective question: how do we ensure that smarter-than-human AI aligns with our values?

The Philosophical Core of Alignment

At its heart, Always On digs into the meaty concept of Alignment, the process that AI developers undertake to make sure AI systems operate within human ethical frameworks. While the premise sounds technical, it delves deeper into philosophical discussions. Players are forced to confront ethical dilemmas, prompting contemplation of what values we consider essential and how disagreements among humans complicate alignment efforts for increasingly sophisticated AI systems.
