A Glimpse into Locomotive History

Crafted by Robert Riddles, the 6MT Clan Class was designed as a 4-6-2 Pacific tender steam locomotive, resembling the more popular Britannia Class but engineered for improved efficiency. Only ten units were constructed at BR’s Crewe Works between 1951 and 1952 due to shifting modernization plans. Ultimately, all ten were withdrawn by June 1966, and none remain in preservation today.
