A Look at the F3H-2 Demon’s History

McDonnell Aircraft introduced the F3H Demon™ in the early 1950s as its first swept-wing fighter jet. Initially conceived as the XF3H-1™, the jet struggled with performance issues due to an inadequate power plant. However, after the successful integration of the reliable Allison J71 engine in 1953, the F3H-2N Demon™ was officially approved as a frontline fighter for the U.S. Navy. Despite some limitations in power, it proved to be a stable platform throughout its service life until its retirement in 1964.
