APEX: Black Monday is a PC financial strategy game set on Wall Street from 1985 to 1989. You start at a firm with weekly targets and orders, then trade and build a book with the aim of earning it out. The rival is APEX Holdings, a competing firm pursuing the same market. You have until the decade closes to bring it down or sell to it.

The game runs for 260 weeks on the real calendar, with October 1987 and Black Monday arriving on schedule. You enter commands such as BUY, SHORT, ACQUIRE, SIGN, VOTE, FILE and FIX. Each decision has a settlement date, while sectors, commodities and supply chains shift around you.
