Smoke and Steel is a turn-based wargame set in early-18th-century Europe. You command armies in tactical battles, then lead a nation through campaigns shaped by war, diplomacy, trade, and technological change. You can follow Sweden through the Great Northern War, fight historical engagements, or create an alternate history.

Tactical battles

Combat depends on formation, positioning, terrain, morale, and flanking. You command infantry, cavalry, and artillery, keeping your battle line intact while concentrating fire and protecting its flanks. Line Infantry, Grenadiers, Dragoons, Cuirassiers, Hussars, and Field Artillery each have different battlefield roles.
