In 2019, a group of friends at Luleå University of Technology began work on a game titled “The Machine.” The idea was born on an open games forum held by Arctic Game Lab, and scored a passing grade in the assignment it was later used for. In the summer of 2021, we came in touch with the games accelerator Mind Detonator, who provided the invaluable trifecta: housing, grassroots financing, and advice. With their help, Gumlin Games moved to the game village of Jörn, a small town in northern Sweden, located an hour’s drive from Skellefteå.
