A gravity-based space simulator

Worlds in Orbit is a PC space simulator about creating planets and arranging them into solar systems. You can build worlds, change their physical properties, and watch stars, planets, and moons interact through Newtonian N-body gravity. Changing a body’s mass, speed, or direction can alter nearby orbits, capture another body, or send worlds on a collision course.

Creating worlds

Start with a procedurally generated world or a bare sphere, then shape its terrain with mountains, plateaus, canyons, rifts, volcanoes, craters, lake basins, and seabeds. Add surface cover such as forests, grasslands, deserts, wetlands, tundra, or ice. Terrain and cover use separate layers, and undo and redo let you revise individual regions.
