Tactics V: "Obsidian Brigade"

Tactical Nostalgia with Tactics V: "Obsidian Brigade"

In a world that pays tribute to the golden era of tactical RPGs, Tactics V: "Obsidian Brigade" revives the classic turn-based mechanics that defined many console games from the 1990s. Set within a rich fantasy lore, this game invites players to engage in deeply strategic combat, utilizing a combination of 2D isometric perspectives crafted from 3D assets. The homage isn’t just for show; it’s a heartfelt nod from developer Paul Metcalf, who aimed to carve a niche in the tactical genre.

Combat Mechanics that Challenge Strategy

Detailing its robust combat system is essential, as it effectively reshapes how battles unfold. It features multiple mechanics such as facing, targeting styles, and a mix of actions and delayed reactions. Each decision weighs heavily on the outcome, promoting a careful consideration of tactics. Players can navigate the intricacies of delayed actions to outsmart their opponents, making every encounter an engaging puzzle to solve.
