RE-ANIMATED

Reflecting on Extinction in Re-Animated

Re-Animated is a thought-provoking VR experience that invites players into the vanished world of the Kaua‘i ʻōʻō bird. This 15-minute meditative journey doesn’t fit traditional gaming molds; instead, it immerses participants in a poignant encounter with nature, blending memories, history, and digital artistry.

An Artistic Tribute to Nature's Loss

The essence of Re-Animated revolves around a tribute to the Kaua‘i ʻōʻō, rendered extinct in 1987. Through a combination of biological traces and the bird's haunting final mating call recorded in 1975, participants enter a space that captures the spirit of a lost Hawaiian habitat. This reflective piece not only honors the bird but also serves as a reminder of the fragility of our natural world.
