MALEBOLGE

Descent through Hell

MALEBOLGE is a PC stealth survival game based on Dante’s Inferno. You play Dante, alive among the dead, carrying an oil lamp through six chapters and nine circles, from the dark wood to the frozen lake. Its locations come from the poem, and the game uses no invented places to connect them.

The damned don’t see you. Creatures track the traces of a living body: weight, breath, warmth and air you’ve moved. Running leaves twice the odor of walking, while stone blocks it. You can be found even while standing still if you’re in the wrong place, so moving carefully and choosing where to stop are part of staying alive.
