The story follows Romi Shikisaki and her best friend Manamo Kuriyama, members of the Tsukishiro Academy's Art Club, which faces disbandment. Their only chance to preserve their way of life lies in defeating rival club members in a Beautiful Warriors Contest. This juxtaposition of side-scrolling shooting gameplay and engaging narrative sets a thrilling stage.

The gameplay revolves around fluid character swapping, where players control both Romi and Manamo in fierce battles against enemies. As they take on various foes, players generate an "alchemy aura" by damaging enemies. This aura converts incoming projectiles into gems. These collectibles contribute to a magic gauge, allowing players to unleash powerful Friendship magic.
