Kanji Unsealed

Vocabulary as combat

Kanji Unsealed is a single-player fantasy RPG for PC where you fight monsters by recognizing Japanese kanji or Chinese hanzi and typing words that contain them. Each monster displays a character, and you use a valid word containing it to attack. Monsters strike back while you think, so you’ll also need to enter the right words to counter their attacks before time runs out.

Japanese and Chinese

You can choose Japanese or Simplified Chinese, each with its own character curriculum and offline dictionary. Separate profiles track your progress in each language. Your vocabulary level is your main strength in battle, and the game keeps track of characters you’ve discovered, their readings, and the words you’ve used in a Character Archive. You can use the archive to practice and try out vocabulary.
