BYTE

The Intriguing World of BYTE

In BYTE, players step into the shoes of Jonathan Harker, tasked with navigating a digitally infused reimagining of Bram Stoker's classic. Set in the early 1990s, this tactics RPG presents a unique twist, blending elements of horror with modern technology. As Dracula’s real estate agent, Jonathan's mission is to facilitate the Count’s property purchases in New York City, all while grappling with unsettling mysteries inside the Count's castle in Detroit, Oregon.

Technology and Queerness Intertwined

The game adeptly weaves themes of queerness and technology throughout its narrative. Jonathan's journey unfolds against a backdrop of early digital advancements such as fax machines, telephones, and the internet. With a heavy emphasis on the nuances of identity in the modern age, BYTE reinterprets classic narratives, challenging societal norms related to gender and sexuality. This intersection invites players to reflect on cultural contexts that have evolved since Stoker's time.
