Tactical Command in Angola '86

In Angola '86, players assume the role of a commander in the South African Defence Force (SADF) during the tumultuous South African Border War of 1966. Engaging in a turn-based strategy format, this game tasks you with executing counter-insurgency operations while navigating the complexities of local and international politics. Successfully securing South West Africa hinges on your ability to manage both military and civilian relationships in a highly volatile environment.

Balance Military Strategy with Political Challenges

Commanding your forces against SWAPO insurgents is essential, but it’s not just about tactical victories in combat. The political landscape plays a crucial role, as maintaining the support of the local population can significantly impact your effectiveness. Intelligence and goodwill from civilians lead to essential information, guiding your military strategy and helping you counteract broader threats posed by the Angolan army (FAPLA) and its Soviet backing.
