A Samurai's Quest: Shujinkou on Switch

Shujinkou draws players into a captivating world where a retired samurai takes on a noble quest to protect his home from the menacing Akuma, a race of language-devouring entities. Accompaning him are a charming fox released from a curse and an astute princess with her own motives. This dungeon-crawling JRPG intertwines rich storytelling with the challenge of mastering the Japanese language, giving a fresh context to each encounter.

Language Learning as Gameplay

Shujinkou stands out by seamlessly integrating language learning into its gameplay. It features thousands of Japanese words, phrases, kana, kanji, and grammar elements, making it suitable for learners from the JLPT N5 to N1 levels. Players can gain a deep understanding of the language while battling enemies, forging weapons, or navigating complex quests. However, the game allows for enjoyment sans Japanese studies, providing a route for those more interested in the adventure.
