A wizard in prison

Gloamcaster is a top-down PC magic game about escaping a grim prison after a school of magic falls. You wake in a cell without a wand or books, but an old potions master in the next bunk remembers a few tricks. You’ll pick locks, search rooms, find your wand and try to free the other students. The Jailer holds the keys to the prison.

Spell-based combat

Fights use fire, frost and lightning rather than swords, and each encounter is built around solving a problem. Freeze a group of skeletons with frost, chain lightning through them, then burn the rest with a ring of fire. Enemy mages have shield crystals to break, while summoning totems keep raising the dead until you get through to them.
