Game overview

Card Monarchy is a deck-building roguelike for PC where players control a Monarch using a deck of cards that constitutes their units, spells, and curses. Each deck consists of exactly ten unique cards, with no duplicates allowed. The player's objective is to navigate a map built from cards, battling enemies and bosses to progress until the Monarch's health is depleted, which ends the run.

Deck mechanics

Each card in the game has a suit and a rank. The rank determines the gold cost of the card while the suit identifies it with a specific Quarter of the map. The game features four Quarters represented by different suits: Spades (burn), Diamonds (corrode), Clubs (bleed), and Hearts (cure). You can only apply one affliction to a unit at a time, requiring strategic decisions about which effects to use during combat.
