Ashen Testament

A book on the road

Ashen Testament is a first-person roguelite for PC about a living book carried by a Bearer toward the Black Gate. You are the book’s Custodian. Three countries lie along the road, where servants and rival factions want what’s written in its pages. Each run takes you through fights and choices, and the world remembers what happens.

When a Bearer dies, the book writes a Decree: a new law the world must follow on the next run. A new Bearer takes up the book, either a stranger with a trade or a relative of the fallen, who carries something of theirs. The dead are recorded on the Wall of the Fallen, along with the foe that killed them. That enemy waits in a later run.
