Xiangqi roguelite

Xiangqi Traveler is a PC roguelite built around Xiangqi, or Chinese chess, on its full nine-by-ten board. You pick one of six travelers, roll dice to move across a map, and fight through four seasons. Stamina is your health: rolls and moves spend it, and victories restore it.

The rules change through Stratagems, passive effects based on China’s Thirty-Six Stratagems. They can set pieces on fire or freeze them, turn them against their side, let them cross the river in new ways, or seize the host’s seat. Effects can trigger at the start of a fight, on a move, or after captures and checks. When several trigger at once, they resolve from left to right, so arranging them affects your build.
