Whispers of the Night

Story and setting

Whispers of the Night is a visual novel with turn-based RPG combat, set in Ashenveil, a town where people are bound by contracts. Some signed with merchant houses, some with older things, and some never agreed to their terms. Your contract was written before you were born. You spend the days talking with townspeople and the nights finding out what the town was sealing.

The conversations include a woman who has stopped believing in ethics, an archivist bound to a record outside the church, and a clerk named Voss, who says witnesses and their silence can be bought. The story also touches on the Redsky Calamity, the Red Saint and the contract system.
