Game premise and exploration

Wayward Cosmos is a procedurally generated space exploration game where players create and navigate a galaxy made from a single seed. You start with a small ship and a crew, exploring star systems that contain planets, asteroids, and various space stations. The game generates roughly 120 star systems, and the universe can be shared with others through the same seed for identical exploration.

Space travel and navigation

You can jump between star systems using a galaxy map that displays various celestial bodies and locations. Each star system may contain 1 to 6 planets, as well as stations, asteroid belts, and other features, such as derelicts and hostile entities. You dive from orbit to explore different types of planets, including terran, ocean, and lava worlds. The terrain on these planets is represented with seamless flyovers that show continents and landscapes visible from space.
