Unaccounted

A census after the fire

Unaccounted is a first-person murder mystery set in a 1980s Eastern Bloc city that isn’t on any map you were given. You’re appointed custodian of Habitation Block 17 after a fire destroys the building’s archive and kills its landlord. The Directorate gives you five days to verify the census, account for every current resident, and name the arsonist. Your report could qualify your family for better accommodation and a larger monthly allowance.

Searching Block 17

You search the building’s five floors, including its nine apartments, corridors, and shared spaces. There are twelve residents to account for, and some keep their doors closed while others invite you in for tea. You’ll investigate unfamiliar names, extra beds, and reports of footsteps after midnight, then work out who lives where and what each person did on the night of the fire.
